CHENNAI: The Madras high court on Monday restrained a soap manufacturer from using actor Tamanna's photographs to market its products as the contract has expired.
In her petition, Tamanna said she had signed an agreement with Power Soaps Limited on October 7, 2008 that she would endorse the company's products till October 6, 2009. However, while she was involved in discussions to endorse products of another company in the last quarter of 2010, it was brought to her notice that Power Soaps Limited continued to use her image to sell their products, in particular on the wrappers of soaps manufactured during November 2010 and February 2011, she said.
Though notices were sent to the company and its agency, J&D Communication Private Limited, on January 18, 2011 and February 1, 2011, the replies were evasive which prompted her to file a legal suit claiming a compensation of Rs 1 crore for the violation, she said.
